If you are experiencing the same situation as most hotels during the outbreak, you need a plan to cope with reduced revenue. You also need to prepare for the increased travel that will no doubt occur when people finally feel safe to get out again and businesses are reopened. Here are a few tips.
- Temporarily adjust your cancellation policies – People may be afraid to book a stay even well in advance since they are not sure if the outbreak will be over. Offering a cancellation policy that is more flexible than your usual one may encourage some advance bookings and provide your hotel with some immediate revenue.
- Update your call to action – You are probably used to saying “Book Now” at the end of every ad campaign. For now, there may be more appropriate CTAs such as “Plan Your Future Adventure” or “Find Out More” to show that you understand most people are probably not looking for an immediate trip, but are thinking ahead and maybe just doing some research.
- Take advantage of empty rooms – There’s no better time than now to take advantage of the empty space to do thorough cleanings, catch up on maintenance tasks, and even to update the furnishings if you can afford it.
