It has been almost thirty years since Rita Epperson, Human Resources Manager at Venus Group, was hired. On August 29, 2019, Rita will retire and we at Venus Group will miss her tremendously. Rita has been an asset to our organization and we are very grateful for her years of service. Rita has gifted us with some thoughtful insights about her time at Venus Group.

How long did you work for Venus Group? What year were you hired?

Rita: I started working at Venus on July 16, 1990, almost 30 years ago.

What was your job title when you started with the company?

Rita: I was hired as Executive Secretary

What is your fondest memory of working at Venus?

Rita: My fondest memory during my 29 years of employment is how I have watched Venus Group grow and grow to where they are today. They are successful and strong due to the hard work and the dedication of the owners. Being a foreigner myself, I have to say the many experiences I have had dealing with the various cultures and learning to respect and accept change.

What will you miss the most about working at Venus?

Rita: I will miss the camaraderie I had with my department. I felt we were really a family working together as a team and always looking out for one another with respect and kindness. I will miss seeing all the smiling faces.

What is your secret to success in the workplace?

Rita: I don’t really have a secret to success in the workplace. I believe that life is a learning process and working at Venus has taught me to start my day with a smile and conquer whatever problems arise. I believe in helping out wherever I was needed even if it was not my job category.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Venus employees?

Rita: My words of wisdom for Venus employees are that I have achieved a certain level of success, but there are still new challenges awaiting for me. I will not quit growing and would like to pass that thought on to all of you. We are never too old.

In closing, my time has come to get out my “Bucket List” and pursue the road of retirement. We don’t know how many sunsets we have left, but I am going to enjoy every one I come across.

I will miss everyone at Venus, but promise to keep in touch.
