CLEAN MANUFACTURING
At the heart of our philosophy is strong quality leadership through environmental and social consciousness. We control the quality of our products from inspecting the yarn to the development of the finished product. We recognize the importance of minimizing waste of water, raw material consumption, energy, and other resources throughout our vertically integrated supply chain.
Water and Energy Conservancy
- Reverse osmosis is used to treat the effluent – 85% of the recycled water is reused into the manufacturing process.
- The sludge generated from manufacturing is dried and transported to cement manufacturers.
- Water harvesting pits are created to improve the surrounding ground water level.
- Focused attempt to increase usage of renewable energy (solar energy) in the factory premises.
Material Sourcing
- All our packaging uses virgin outer liners and recycled inner liners.
- End-of-life corrugated packaging materials are donated to an organization to be recycled.
- All plastics waste from raw materials packaging is separated and recycled.
SOCIAL IMPACT
- Under the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity, we contribute a percentage of our annual profits towards improving health care facility and promoting education.
- We operate under guidelines of SMETA – 4 Pillar Social Compliance norms which ensures maintaining ethical work practices, health & safety of workforce, strict enforcement of “No Child Labor” policy and encouraging and engaging female workforce and maintaining ethical business practice and environment.
- Our production unit in India is ISO 14001:2015 certified. ISO 14001 is an effective environmental management system (EMS). It provides a framework that an organization can follow for better environmental performance.
- Products manufactured in our production unit are labeled as Oeko-Tex certified. This certification and the chemical tests ensure that our products are completely free from harmful chemicals and are safe for human use.
SUPLLIER AND PARTNERS
Our suppliers must comply with applicable laws and regulations and support sustainable programs.
- Regular audits of local and oversea vendors to ensure that their operations are environmentally friendly.
- Many of our suppliers are part of distinguished programs, such as American Tree Farm System (ATFS), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC).
CUSTOMER PRODUCTS
Our obligation extends to innovating products that align to the sustainability commitments of our customers.
- Value-engineering items that help conserve water and energy, throughout the product lifecycle. Examples: Venus patented Performance Twill™ and ECOTouch™.
- Venus is developing a post-consumer recycled polyester product line of napery, linens & towels.
