Understanding how bed linens are produced is important if you want to purchase the best ones for your hotel guests. Here are three factors to consider if you want to offer a luxury bedroom experience.
- Thread count – We understand that higher thread counts mean more comfort, right? So why are some sheets advertised as 1600 thread count but they don’t feel as comfortable as sheets with a 400-thread count? Basically, it’s tough to fit more than 400 threads per square inch no matter how advanced your machinery is. As a result, manufacturers often multiply the count by the ply count of the threads or use other fuzzy math to inflate their numbers.
- Quality considerations – The number of weft threads is important. If a company uses a lot of warp threads but far fewer weft threads, they could still provide a decent thread count but without the quality. Everything seems nice, until the linens have gone through a few washes. Then the wear starts to show and you have to replace the sheets.
- Sizing – Sheets are not one-size fits all, especially if you have extra deep mattresses on your beds. Be sure to work with a linen manufacturer who has custom production capabilities to meet your hotel’s unique needs.
